I'm disappointed in Mr. Eddings. The characters aren't who they're supposed to be and are acting very contrary to their natures and personalities set up in The Belgariad. It's as if I don't know them anymore. The trend seems to be that most of the characters are becoming more and more like Silk, sarcastic, sardonic, and annoying. Also, the plot seems to be moving so slowly. There are things happening which aren't necessary and just serve as distractions and wastes of time. It seems like there is a lot of filler material of jokes or situations that Mr. Eddings thought would be funny and so he crammed them into the book in awkward places. Despite all of these annoyances and plot holes and continuity flaws, I still like the overall story and since I learned to love most of the characters from The Belgariad, I feel obligated to continue reading the story.
