** spoiler alert ** Not being a fan of reading parenting books (not the I couldn't use a little help mind you), I finally gave in and read this one. Eye opening to say the least. Starting with praising the childs effort and not contintually telling the child how smart s/he is were new thoughts for me. I tried it on my own child and was astounded by the results. He turned from a reluctant studier to one that is asking to be tested on his spelling words all from praising his effort.

Can't wait to put a few more things in practice.
