I LOVED this book, and I don't kid when I recommend it for everyone. The LA Times compared it to Trollope, and that an apt comparison (don't worry, it's not as long as a Trollope novel). Although summaries generally talk about main characters Jill Wasserstrom and her sister Michelle, and Jill's best friend Muley Willis, this generous novel encompasses all of the characters that touch their lives. There are so many stories in this novel that one couldn't describe all of them, and they all come back to each other. This novel is set in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago between November 1979 and January 1981, and I must confess to driving up and down California Avenue looking for locations in this book. This really is a book to be savored.
