Yes, Chef: A Memoir

by Marcus Samuelsson
I won this book in a goodreads give away.
When I started the book it was extremely engrossing. Unfortunately that trend did not continue. I enjoyed reading of Marcus' struggles to becoming a accomplished chef. Midway through the book the writing trailed off. What started as whitty and provoking evolved into a series of 'wrapping it up' chapters.
The writing about food was mouth watering. If you are a fan of food network shows and the visual images this is the written work to strike your fancy. I enjoyed the book overall. It allowed me to see the kitchen through a chefs eyes.

12.0% | "I am engrossed in this tale of Marcus growing up. As he tells the story of his friend defending him when children began to tease him about his race it brings tears to my eyes. While he does not dare to compare his story of race to the story of race in America, he focuses on his friends and family support that help him develop his own character." |
