it was amazing

I just finished this for the second time, and I was once again blown away by Faulkner's craft. There is so much here in this slim volume. His grasp and understanding of these deeply flawed people - some merely ignorant, some ugly, some paralyzed by circumstance, some insane - forces you to open your own heart to compassion to even the worst of them. Where this work would have floundered in the hands of a lesser writer, it soars in his. And even more remarkable, he wrote it in just 8 weeks and with minimal revision. He called it a "tour de force;" I call it a masterpiece of litery art.
