it was amazing
bookshelves: adult-fiction

This is perhaps my favourite of Kate Atkinson's books, probably because it features lots of Louise, the tough savvy detective with the horrid son and beloved cat. This is one of two books that have made me miss my subway stop because I was so entrenched in the reading (the other was ROOM). It was actually the first Jackson Brodie book I read, which goes to show that you don't have to read these books in order. I love how KA manages to successfully blend literary characterization, crime, mystery, and funny, funny observations on life. Some of her scenes kick you in the gut because you are so busy laughing that when something horrible happens you are completely shocked and must read on. Hence the missing of my subway stop.
