There is only one word in the title that accurately describes this book. Let me give you a hint: it's not "great" or "beauty." What a disappointment! I wasn't looking for timeless literature, just for a fun vacation read, and this wasn't even worth that. A group of after-school-special characters (they cut themselves! they're secretly gay! and on and on) are dropped into a completely unrealistic Victorian setting ( upper-class boarding school girls were always falling in love with Gypsies, weren't they?), where they have bizarre "supernatural" experiences. Naturally, this leads them to have profound, coming-of-age realizations. Please spare me.
