Written with a detached tone and loaded with every conceivable related fact, this book does an excellent job at informing the reader of the hardships and suffering experienced by Louis Zamperini as a WWII Japanese POW. The amount of time and detail that accompanied his brutal treatment was, at times, too much to bear. The incredible changes Louis employed after he arrived home and dedicated himself to God, were barely addressed so I felt a lack of closure. I discovered that Louis Zamperini penned this same story as an autobiography which tells the same experiences but with his positive, insightful hindsight - an ingredient missing in Laura Hillenbrand's efforts.
