really liked it

Read mostly on trains between Paris and Toulon, then Toulon and Basel. Gripping! Enough that I kept reading despite being (literally) surrounded by young French navy recruits (I felt bad for the one I had trapped next to the window, even though he hadn't yet discovered deodorant), then sitting in front of a lady watching videos on her laptop without headphones, and then, finally, having to sit in the luggage compartment with my bass, while overweight German tourists slung their suitcases dangerously close to me. Quite a feat, Mr. Murakami. Quite a feat.
