A whole new way to look at religion's claim on morality

Very thoughtful book, with compelling ideas presented in calm but strong, crystal clear prose.

I wish others wrote as well or tackled hard ideas so well.

This is the most utilitarian response to the sometime-mean-spririted atheism of other essays. The gist is that we need to foster and embrace a scientific approach to morality and values.

James M. Madsen, M.D. Hi, Gary! I loved Sam's earlier book. And I heartily recommend Owen Flanagan's "The Problem of the Soul," which I predict that you will also like. It's a more scholarly examination of ethics without religion.
