I’d never read a graphic novel before when I read Blankets. I didn’t know what to think about them before I jumped in, but it was neat and a good introduction to the genre for readers like myself. The characters were likable and easy to relate to. It's a semi-autobiographical coming of age story and I was impressed by the issues it tackled considering the genre. But, then again, what would I know about graphic novels? Not something I’d read again and again, but I’m glad to have read it.
