Holy freaking Crap! One of the great things that is immediately apparent in FAIR GAME is that Briggs's awareness of her world is both vast and minutely detailed. The book opens with Charles shouldering a burden created by the wolves' emergence into society. More than just a plot device, Briggs has created a fundamental shift in the way her world works. Werewolves bound across kiosk tops in Boston, public scrutiny impacts pack justice. I expected to enjoy another glimpse of Anna and Charles's marriage, and believe me, I did enjoy the byplay between them. I did not in a million years expect Briggs to take the fascinating hairline cracks in her world and smash them wide open. The world has changed for Anna and Charles, and for Mercy and Adam and Samuel and Bran... the world has changed and I cannot be more excited for them all.
