My favorite part of Unbreak My Heart was the plot. The author took an interesting look at the heart-breaking that the story revolves around by not telling it in chronological order. Instead, it switches between Clem’s year of heartbreak and her summer of romance and healing after. Slowly, as the two halves merged, I finally understood the events leading up to Clem’s boat trip.
The romance between Clem and James was so sweet. I could tell it was just what Clem needed to get over her last drama filled relationship. I thought it was nice how James put up with Clem rejecting him several times before finally agreeing to go out with him. He was so great to her. The aspect of the entire relationship occurring on a boat was unique as well. It meant an array of different locations as the story progressed. I loved reading about so many new places, and each was so well described. The settings made me want to schedule a boating trip with my family.
Overall, this was a very sweet book, a perfect summer read.
