This book concludes Konoha and Miu's story. I was familiar with the plot beforehand (I've watched the Book Girl film first, which outlines most events in this book), but revisiting its ending still brought tears to my eyes: readers can literally picture the last scene in their head, what with sound effects intact and all, almost like magic. This series is known for bearing an overflowing amount of sadness and melancholy in every story it tells, but there's always salvation by the end of them all--one cannot change the past, but future is bright to those who are willing to make it with their own hands.

Then we have the typical cliffhanger via Epilogue: what is Touko's secret and how did Miu know? It seems like Konoha is always the last person to know anything, which is ironically a result of everyone's love and respect for him. Having finally come to terms with his past, I foresee a turning point in Konoha's character development in the remaining volumes. Will he manage to become the big tree capable of supporting his one true love, as he prayed with all his might during childhood?
