There is plenty of literature available for Titanic enthusiasts to browse, but none so readable and immediate as this novel in verse. Wolf did painstaking research on individual passengers and selected some as the voices in his book. He includes real wireless transmissions; uses survivor accounts to good effect; and even more interestingly gives a voice to the undertaker who traveled on the ship that spent a gruesome week or two recovering and identifying bodies. This was a great read. The only thing I didn't really think much of was the overblown voice of the iceberg. Why include that at all? It intrudes on an otherwise good historical novel.
