The New Republic

This is one of those books that I both liked and didn't like. Although it seemed to try too hard, using language that felt a little unnecessary at times, it had an interesting premise. A main character who is really a sidekick trying to become the leading man of his own life and struggling with ethical and moral questions that have plagued humanity since we started to think. Which matters more, our intentions or the consequences of our actions? How responsible are we for the unintended effects of our actions? It seems especially appropriate given our current struggle with the media and speculation that the media is not only biased and sensationalistic, but (intentionally or unintentionally) manipulating current/future events rather than simply reporting them.
