This book is about two protagonists who fell in love in high school and never fell out of love. Dawson Cole is man who is kind, considerate, and a bit lonely. For most of the book he deals with the haunting history of his family. He’s determined to separate himself and define himself as something different. He struggles to do so until Amanda Collier comes in. Amanda is ambitious, hard headed, a bit angry, yet kind and generous. She comes from a high class family who disapproved of her relationship with Dawson and ended up breaking up with him because of it. Years later when these two meet again they have trouble denying the love that is still there but now the circumstances are different. Amanda struggles with her feelings knowing that she now has a husband and kids. While Dawson is prepared to stand by whatever her decision is.

This is a very romantic book about never ending love but I don’t believe this is one of Nicholas Sparks’s best books. The story of Dawson and Amanda kind of felt like it took to too long to develop. Actually the entire story kind of dragged on. The little elements about Dawson’s visions and his family gave the book a little boost but not much. Nevertheless it was a pretty entertaining read.
