really liked it

William Vollmann is brilliant. This book, like many of his others, has a colorful cast of freaks including neo-Nazis, hookers and the cops who love them, drunks etc. who occupy the flophouses, morgues and crackhead alleys of San Francisco. The man writes with his cojones to the wall, and his visceral style makes these miscreants seem more alive than any of the people you'll ever meet at your day job. Dude is fearless, crazy and brilliant.
