Shinichi Chiaki has a dream to be a famous conductor and conduct concerts in Europe, but his fear of flying keeps him from realizing his dreams. Bitter and frustrated, Shinichi is contemplating giving up his dreams when he meets Nodame, a young girl who is a savant when it comes to playing piano, except she doesn't know how to read music. Can Shinichi teach Nodame how to be a better pianist? Or is Nodame the teacher by teaching Shinichi that there's more to life than just being an excellent musician.

Thoughtful and quirky,Nodame Cantabile was a good read. There were times I was a little confused, and sometimes I rolled my eyes at how exaggerated some scenes were. But, I enjoyed this first volume very much. I'm glad there's already a few more volumes of the series written because I plan on picking up the next volume very soon.
