So, I picked up the first book in this series because I read something on an Australian blog about them doing film adaptations for Australian tv and, even though I enjoyed this, I think I would probably rather illegally hunt down those shows. Because I think this - and I'm assuming the other books, which I may or may not read - would make perfect adaptations - sort of a younger, less-wacky Mrs. Bradley. I mean the clothes descriptions alone? Holy heck. And I like that they take place in Australia and that Phryne is so apologetically herself and the supporting characters are appealing with an actual bit of dimension.

I just wish that the mystery itself had been a little stronger and more of a head-scratcher. Although I guess that's often the danger of initial outings. Hey, look! I've pretty much convinced myself that I will give other books in the series a go.
