Good middle school read. Kayla McHenry's mother plans a all-out 16th Birthday party for her. Problem is, Kayla didn't want a party and when her best friend skips most of the party to be with her boyfriend, the party becomes almost torturous for her. Kayla doesn't have many friends so she was counting on Nicole's company. When she is abandoned she gets so frustrated that she wishes that all of her birthday wishes would actually come true because "they never freakin' do." To her surprise, all of her past birthday wishes begin to come true. Great, right? Well how would you feel if Raggedy Anne and My Little Pony suddenly came to life and expected to become part of yours? When Kayla finally realizes what is happening, she suddenly feels awful - because last year, she wished that Ben, who is now her best friend's boyfriend, would kiss her. So, while she tries to figure out how to keep her dreams from coming true, she must also try to keep Ben from kissing her. At the same time, for some unknown reason, Nicole has become distant and Kayla feels so alone.
