Unfortunately I just couldn't connect with these stories. Most of them seemed somewhat amateurish, some downright silly. I kept on plugging through them though, reading them across most of a two month period and then I finally came to the last one, "The Hero of Elm Street". So glad I kept reading so that I made it to this one as it is a gem hidden among the stones in the rest of the volume. That story, one of the longest in the collection, shows real characterization and establishes an emotional connection with the reader. That story rates 4 stars.
