Love the endpapers (are Amanda and alligator dancing the "Stuffed Alligator," perhaps?) and the 6-1/2 stories that follow about two very good friends. My favorite is Chapter 4: "A Suprising Value." ***Spoiler Alert*** Amanda removes a tag from Alligator's tail. "I Have always wanted to know how much I am worth!" Alligator confesses -- but then is upset to discover it is only seven cents! "Why am I only worth seven cents!?" "Amanda did not say anthing." "Tell the truth!" said Alligator...only to find out he was in the sale bucket. He demands to know why and Amanda tells the truth. "No one wanted to buy you." "Why did no one want to buy me?" And Amanda tells Alligator:

"No one wanted to buy you because they knew you were meant to be my best friend."

(After that. Alligator felt better. And that's the truth.)
