Just discovered this master of argument – he died of excess last month. Famous for beating Tony Blair in a debate about whether God is a force for good. This is essentially a book of book reviews – Tale of Two cities is one example. His prose is apparently as a good as his spoken word. Read many eulogies by people like Salman Rushdie – people seem to love or hate him. I love his brutal, no-holds barred view of popular topics e.g. religion, cruelty to animals, creationism. Some of the books he reviews don’t interest me tho – going to buy his biography HITCH-22 next.
