What do you do when death comes to you and says you have to start collecting and selling the souls of the dead in assorted well-loved household items at your second hand shop so that they can be re-cycled into new bodies or else the sewer harpies will get you? That is not nearly so puzzling as deciding the best reaction to your baby daughter killing things when she points at them from her buggy in the park and says "kitty".

The two shampoo-eating hell hounds are a treat of slightly macabre comic genius. I loved every minute of it. I am so glad I did not read all the Christopher Moore books at once. Having one left to enjoy when I needed something light and stress-free was a really good idea.
