it was amazing

I had no idea what to expect from this book and since I am not a Stephen King fan, I was somewhat of a reluctant reader. However, I am an avid student of history and I well remember the chaos within our nation during the years following the assassination, so those two things pushed me forward with the book and I am certainly glad that they did.

I loved it and saw it as somewhat of a mini-lesson in American history, political science, sociology and psychology. For those of us who remember the event and the years before and after, it was much more than a clever story about traveling back in time to prevent one of the most dreaded events in our nation's history setting off such a turbulent decade of tragic events. It also brought back good and bad memories of a time when life was much simpler and quieter, yet hate mongers abounded throughout our society and the rampant prejudice against so many was a condoned and accepted way of life.

In 11/22/63 the years before were filled with anticipation for what was coming and the underlying story was, I felt, well developed. There were great characters both to love and to hate! I also felt how he built the years after history had been so tampered with and how history so resisted that change was quite interesting as well. I could so see the changes made and concluded along with Jake that it is much better to leave the past in the past and look to the future. I was happy, however, that he was able to have the one true dance along with the memories of others even though they may not have been real.
