Fabulous book. The novel takes place in Hawaii from the turn of the 20th century through WWII. Rachel, as a very young girl, is diagnosed with leprosy, and, as a result, is taken from her home and family.

The story is Rachel's journey - her heartbreaks, her victories - throughout her life. It is a story about the courage and the survival of the human spirit - as seen through Rachel, her blood family, and her assumed family.

Molokai made me laugh, weep, and reflect on just how resilient people can be.....
