This has been on my to-read list for so long now, I didn't even remember anything about its plot - I recognized it on the library shelf and grabbed it. I didn't even read the summary on the dust cover or anything, just jumped right in.

The tale reads like a detailed Law & Order episode, with all these twists and turns in the plot, set in the South where race relations continue to influence politics and justice, whether residents acknowledge it or not. I like how little bits of the plot are released/discovered at various places along the way. However, it feels as if the book should have stopped about 3/4 of the way through. The last 1/4 seemed like add-ons to extend the plot and lengthen the book.

This is my first Greg Iles book, and I won't be violently opposed to picking some other books by him in the future.
