really liked it

I want to give this book five stars--it was so good, but I didn't love the ending. It felt like the author didn't quite know what to do with the characters. But I loved the magic and mystery of the snow child, the wildness of the Alaskan wilderness (although too many wild animals getting trapped, skinned, eaten, or killed--gross.) I also related to the main characters Mabel and Jack and their struggles with having lost a child, and not being able to have more. And I also loved how the story was based on a Russian folktale. It was all really good--just not when the snow child grew up!

"I see that life itself is often more fantastic and terrible than the stories we believed as children, and perhaps there is no harm in finding magic in the trees."
