I really, really wanted to like this book. It's a story that needs to be told, but this seemed to lack punch. Given the subject matter, I wanted so much more, but it felt very much as though things were glossed over in order to cater to younger audiences. There were moments that stood out and a few passages that I really liked, but the overall need for depth and emotional impact canceled that out for me.(view spoiler)[And the epilogue, really? A time capsule buried ten years later that completely glosses over everything, except mentioning that Lina and Andrius got married, that Jonas was also still alive, but almost everyone else had died. But! How did Lina and Andrius find each other again? What actually happened? And where did they go next/what else was there for them?
Like I said, very frustrating. I wanted so much to love this book, and it just wasn't there. (hide spoiler)]
