We are the Ship is a beautifully-rendered and strikingly-told account of Negro League Baseball. It's quite apparent that this book was a labor of love for author and illustration Nelson, and his passion in infectious. A must-read lesson in history and culture for baseball fans in upper-elementary/middle-school--and a picture book worth sharing with readers of all ages.
