Card's exploration of the motivations behind the biblical Abraham and Sarah make us remember that they were not just stick figures of the scriptures but real people. Though he of course took liberty with the pair as characters, the book encourages you to ask what is fiction and what is fact, and to turn other two dimensional guests from the Old Testament into living, breathing people from the past.
