I really enjoyed this book, loved both the hero and heroine, and found the little Golden Girls' group of secondary characters to be utterly darling. This story, however, had a huge flaw that prevented it from being one of the best of McClure's delightful romances. If the author intends to keep the lovers apart throughout the story, she has to come up with a scenario that works, and this one just did not work for me. I just kept saying "grow a spine and get over it already." This book could really use a re-write since the book had so much going for it, but the characters' ridiculous self-pity just didn't come off as a good-enough reason to want to throw away the love of their lives. You can do way better than that, Marcia.
