This was a thoroughly enjoyable book, I read it in two days and hardly put it down, but I was a little disappointed with the ending, and I did feel, in the end, not very much happened in the story. I find Nina Kiriki Hoffman's manipulative and magical backwoods families fascinating.

I also found the use of the memory palace (called memory house in this) interesting. I did a post about memory palaces on my blog a while back:
