Jeffery Deaver doesn't know how to get to the point of a story. Just when I thought the story was over, it went on for two more hours.

The Sleeping Doll is a worthwhile story even if it does tend to get bogged down in details. Lots of kinesics information, which can be a little dry. I mean, we get it as readers that we're dealing with an expert, but something just seemed explained to death.

The story itself, which was slow to get going, was about an escaped cult leader, who's bent on a mission to not just get away, but kill everyone who's ever opposed him. Katheryn Dance is the expert tracking him, with mis-steps that seem a little forced. Pell is the Manson-style leader who's pulled of a daring and dangerous escape from under her nose, adn with his faithful and gullible accomplice, he makes several misteps of his own.

It could have been a smaller book by a third easily, and calling it "multilayer" doesn't excuse a lot of the extraneous information that only served to yank me out of what could have been a taut thriller.
