Read from February 27 to March 04, 2012

In the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union, 10-year-old Sasha re-examines his values and perceptions when his beloved father is arrested. A 2012 Newbery Honor Book. Generous margins and black-and-white illustrations give this book a "young" look, but the topic and the inclusion of a letter written in cursive render it appropriate for grades 4-7.
