More like 4.5 stars. I love this interesting, fast-paced read with a complex main character, Michael, who is also the narrator of the story. The chapters alternate with life before he started picking locks, and life after - and this worked for me - as a way to get both the back-story and the current story out in a timely way. I'm not sure I loved all the details given on lock-picking - just wasn't interested and didn't understand anyway - but that didn't get in the way of this good, solid story.
