This book gets an extra point for the excellent, atmospheric setting. I was about to give it a two because I did not get the vengeful ghost at the end - I've never been a fan of pointless violence.

Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, travels to a village to settle the affairs of an isolated house nearby whose owner has died - Eel Marsh House. The house is only accessible a few hours each day when the tide is out. Before the funeral of Mrs Drablow is over, Arthur is seing a woman with drawn features dressed in black. She appears at the house as well and eventually Arthur's experience escalates from merely eerie to ominous.

This is a short litte book. Excellent atmospheric description, endearing characters for most part and some sort of plot. However, the writing was quite cumbersome - but this might be a side effect from reading too many YA books. Moderately enjoyable.

Ina Jeg elsker bøker med creepy atmosfære, eller med atmosfære i det hele tatt. Skal legge den til ønskelista mi:)
