Read from February 27 to March 09, 2012

The only series I have read of Bernard Cornwell's is his Saxon Series. From the very first book I was hooked. I like how they are based loosely on what recorded history there is for this time period and Mr. Cornwell states where he strays from history and where he has taken creative liberties from what was known of the time. It reminds me of the Patrick O'Brien Series of Fictional/History. I think why I am particularly drawn to this series is because I know I had ancestors that were in Great Britian through that time period and because I am here they somehow managed to survive as a Scottish Clan, descendents from northern Viking invaders.

I would highly recommend the series to anybody interested in this time period, the politics, the warfare, and living conditions of the time. I have read the entire series and always anticipate the next book in the series.
