Nothing new here. The main character's voice has been done by the author before, and it felt like reading something I had read before, like buying an album of B-sides and demos that sound a little different but are basically just the same songs... Palahniuk goes heavy on the gross-out attempts, which sorta work, but come on, who's he writing this for? Are any of his fans and readers actually grossed out by body fluid oceans and partial birth abortion swamps in hell? I wasn't, and I liked the ewwww-gross!-factor better in "Snuff". The book is most succesful in skewering Hollywood elites in particular and liberal parenting in general. It had some LOL moments, but overall it was like watching reruns on TV.
