This was a great military space opera in the spirt of Weber, White and Ringo. For me, it had a [original] Star Trek vibe, updated for today's (well tomorrow's) tech.

The science wasn't too bad and I liked how differences between the different sets of tech between the different civilitations.

My main beef? Not enough ScfFi references. There were a few made by some characters ("on the bounce", "Bug Hunt", etc) but I would have thought there would be more. In the future, when/if we do venture beyond our solar system, I would expect some homage being made to some science fiction greats, either in speaches, ship names, quips by people ("We don't 'beam people', we beam ships!", etc.

Still if you like tough as nails aliens, new civilitations and going places where no earth man has gone before....

Update: Reread the re-mastered version and enjoyed it more this time... :)
