really liked it

Much better in the original French than in translation, Christian jacq brings ancient Egypt to life as though he actually lived there. Based on historically accurate detail his stories are both captivating and informative and one gets a real feel for the pharaonic culture and plotocs of the era. This and the four volumes that follow are a brilliant expose for the modern world of how life used to be, although he largely avoids the seamyier side of life that must have existed among the less privileged classes. Damn good reading all the same..
