I am astonished that I was able to finish this book. I really liked The Roar. It was the perfect, "If you liked Ender's Game, you'll like this book" book. The Whisper...not so much. The Roar was a YA novel. The Whisper seems geared towards 4th and 5th graders. There is no character complexity or change. No one dies. Nothing is surprising. Everything works out and everyone lives happily ever after...even the bad guy. Having said that, now I think I'll buy the set for my 9 year old nephew. It is far more appropriate for him than my sophisticated 8th grade readers.
