This is a creative and solid story with a good message; I really enjoyed all of its interesting twists and turns. The author skillfully weaves the story of Mrs. Frisby and her house-moving problem with the story of escaped lab rats. The ending is very satisfying.

This book is very different from the movie and in a very good way. It does not have any of the supernatural, mystical feel of the movie - its just a a tale of down-to-earth challenges overcome with courage and goodness. It is intense at times but never terrifying. I will definitely want my children to enjoy this one as well.
