This story was a mystery to me. First of all, the basic story of Hamish and his life in Lochdubh was the minor theme. Most of the story takes place in Braikie. Then, the mystery to be solved became so convoluted it was hard to follow. The end of the book leaves questions to be answered. Will the persons guilty of the crime be brought to justice; will Hamish ever have a real love relationship; will the station be closed in Lochdubh; will Hamish have to move to Strathborne Did M. C. Beaton really write this book?
