I really liked this book. In this one- sequel to Courting Trouble, Essie has grown up a little and has accepted her spinsterhood. She continues to pray to the Lord to guide her in her daily life when it comes to making choices. I could actually read about Essie continuing on in a third novel were it written. Her spunky, unpredictable for the time personality, makes for a much-enjoyable read. The author has a way of putting a lot of story in few pages and I like that. It was exciting. The way the author focuses around a historical event for the time period makes it all the more enjoyable.
