Three year old Benji is taken by his father and step-mother (his mother -a geisha killed herself)to the USA where they tell the townspeople that he is an orphan.

Later when the truth about Benji emerges, tragedies happen and also send Benji on a journey via Corolardo to San Francisco back to his native Nagakasi. There he discovers the real truth about his mother, etc.

What really surprised me was the story of Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" which the author so included in her story.

Again the Japanese myth of the Kitsune (Japanese Fox) was also included in this story.

And at the end their was hope that Benji would connect again with his American Family. I was giving the story a 4 star first but decided to change it to a 5 star! I think it is a great story.
