recommended for: lovers of French culture; those who enjoy travel writing, food critique
Not what I thought it was going to be. I thought it was just about French culture, but the book solely focused on that oh-so-critical feature of the French which is the gastronomic system. The author deals with topics as varied as snails, frogs' legs, and wines. It is interesting, but not enthralling.
