I learned of this book from the Smart Bitches over at www.smartbitchestrashybooks.co.... The review there was dead-on and I have thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It's a quick read with a great story line and a pair of unlikely lead characters. The gothic element is strong, but author Sandra Schwab does a great job introducing new, smart elements into a creaky old genre. The romance is steamy and believable. (The scene with the erotic playing cards is one to read again!) I've got about 20 pages left, and unless things go horribly, horribly wrong, this will be the first in a new bookshelf of "Great Beach Reads."
