The depth of research that went into this book is amazing. The acknowledgements at the end are less of the traditional list, and more like a letter from the author.

I really enjoyed the blending of fact and fiction, and the blending of art and words. It was a format that worked really well with Hugo Cabret and it works really well here too. I think I actually enjoyed this story more than Hugo Cabret.

Brian Selznick's art is like looking at paintings on cracked china. They're very beautiful and manage to effectively convey the story they are telling just as much as his words do. I really hope he's working on another book in this format, both this and Hugo Cabret are beautiful and educational. A fantastic combination.
